UNBREAKABLE frames for the little ones The ultra-light Fleur sunglasses feature a round pantos shape, a flower petal-inspired frame, and mirrored lenses made of polycarbonate. The sunglasses are 100% made in France and are suitable for children aged 0–4 years (0–1, 1–2, 2–4 years). Available in several colours. Maximum sun protection The Category 3 mirrored lenses filter 100% of UV radiation (UVA, UVB, UVC) and include a blue light filter, providing optimal protection for delicate young children’s eyes. Use Although Kietla sunglasses are very durable and the frame is unbreakable, they are not a toy. Please make sure your child does not rub them against stones or chew on them. Otherwise, the lenses may become scratched. Should a baby wear sunglasses? Babies’ and children’s eyes need especially careful protection from harmful sunlight on hot, sunny summer days, because their natural eye protection is still low: a child’s pupils are wider, the lens of the eye is clearer, and children also tend to look upward more often than adults. This means they are at greater risk of eye damage caused by excessive sun exposure. Do ordinary dark lenses also protect a baby’s eyes? It is not the dark tint of the lens that protects the eyes from sunlight, but UV protection. Wearing sunglasses with merely darkened lenses and no UV protection is extremely dangerous for the eyes, because the eye’s natural protective mechanisms — squinting and pupil constriction — do not respond properly behind dark lenses. As a result, significantly more UV radiation can reach the eyes than when no sunglasses are worn at all.
